Career as Abap Developer or Sap Abap Development Manager

One can get a job in sap and make his career as Abap Developer or Sap Abap Development Manager in a project. The responsibility of ABAP Developer is to work under a Project Manager who guides his team and assigns jobs to the team members. Programmers in ABAP should have technical and functional knowledge to deliver work on time and the focus of programming code should be to provide an efficient program which reduces the efforts of the client.

A good program should be able to give results on time and prevent delays. The program should be able to solve the complexities of business processes and ease decision making. In real life projects -programming which serves the purpose of management in a better way is adopted. In an implementation project client is not concerned of the technology or hardware until the implementation team delivers a software package which can eases the work processes and delivers work on time within the desired budget.

It is not easy to build career as Abap Developer or programmer and therefore, one should be aware of the basic functionalities of the modules and learn the language in which the package is written. The language is similar to German - because it was developed in Germany the new codes resemble languages such as VB and RAD. SAP has a good market share in ERP amidst large organizations and it provides a great option for people to make a career. Now, the demand of ERP package has risen in the small and midsized companies and many companies are taking up SAP for implementation because



1. The cost of implementation has reduced in the last few years.
2. The ROI on SAP project is attractive.
3. It is reliable provider.

Although the demand for SAP ABAP developer has reduced as compared to 2008 in 2010 but the requirement increased as compared to 2009. The salary structure is not as lucrative as it was before recession but the salary is better than many other work areas. In UK the salary of ABAP developer can be more than Euro 30,000 per annum. The demand for ABAP developer was highest in the start of the year 2007 and now the demand has stabilized. One can go for career as Abap Developer or programmer and some go for the implementation work.

The job in implementation is more adventures as compared to support. You get problems to solve and it requires a good convincing skills and communication, to perform better at client side. The implementation team has to go to the client place every day and provide solution to the queries of the clients. There is a lot of pressure on project manager for completing the project on time within the given budget.

A development manager is responsible for handling both implementation and support in the area. The roles of Sap ABAP Development Manager include

1. Designing the project plans and taking care of all aspects of the project.

2. Designing the flow charts as per the client's requirements on time.

3. The manger has to assign work to the team members.

4. He is responsible for delays in project and he is also responsible if the team members are not delivering their jobs on time.
